Help Protest the Open Sewage Lagoons on Tune Drive

You can help us PROTEST the possible renewal of a NMED discharge permit to operate a
OPEN SEWAGE LAGOON at the head of Tune Drive!
Our 2006 SNA Land Use Ordinance now PROHIBITS these lagoons.

The County Commissioners have decided not to back up our ordinance!
We elected them and now they have walked away from us without even hearing our complaints.

Here is what you can do:

The permit is in the hands of the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED)
and we need to let them know that we care about the renewal of S&R's permit #DP-465

PLEASE GET YOURSELF ON THE "INTERESTED PARTIES LIST" BY ONE OF THE 3 FOLLOWING WAYS:

1. Call Brad Reid at 505-827-2963 or

2. Email Brad Reid at: brad.reid@state.nm.us or

3. Send a letter to:

Brad Reid
Director NMED
Ground Water Quality Bureau
1190 St Francis Drive
Harold Runnels Building
Santa Fe, NM 87502

Ask to be put on the INTERESTED PARTIES LIST. This will get you on the list for public notice #2.

Then, after the NMED sends out public notice #2, we need to send letters of protest to:

Ron Curry
Secretary of the Environment
c/o 1190 St Francis Drive
Harold Runnels Building
Santa Fe, NM 87502

These letters to Mr. Curry should protest the renewal of S&R's recently expired permit #DP-465 and ask for a public meeting and hearing on the issue. These meetings would be in Taos. Mr Curry will decide whether or not to hold meetings or hearings depending on the number of letters written to protest the permit. If there is not a sufficient outcry there will be no meetings or hearings and the permit would be issued.

ALSO

It's time to stop dumping raw sewage in open lagoons in TAOS COUNTY!
